FAO Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust by a friend of the family. Response Imperative!

katieI am sharing this blog on behalf of a very close friend ‘Ana Cossart Hall’ who volunteers her time to various causes and charities in the UK. She is a devoted parent to her daughter Katie who is currently very unwell with an eating disorder and resides in a care home. In this case I use the word ‘care’ lightly. I am really very upset by the below circumstances for Katie. This must be an awful situation for all concerned.

By Anna Cossart Hall … A plea from a mother for her daughter. FAO Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation. Response Imperative!

Over the last 4 weeks we have been on a roller-coaster ride with Berkshire mental health services who are crap!

In Prospect Park Hospital Katie has been let down by the professionals who should be helping her. But now they are breaching health and safety. The boiler broke down yesterday morning, it needs a spare part which isn’t available until tomorrow morning. So there is no hot water or heating in the psychiatric hospital. No spare blankets, no back up generator!

The patients are wearing their coats indoors.

I visited today and it is really cold and miserable. Katie had a cold bath this morning. This is the 21st century, you cant leave vulnerable people in this way. Very unhygienic and it’s not as if she can leave the ward and wash her hands.

Please share this post and hopefully it will be sorted out – also please bombard this https://www.facebook.com/berkshirehealthcare/…. “.
