wandering around a little cottage in England #diary

I’ve had a dreadful bug this week, but I feel much better. In turn, it’s given me writers block. I’ve tried to do the next chapter, but it’s rubbish. I love self expression but I am no A Level whizz. Being penfully correct bores the shit out of me. I come from my heart. So, it’s tough! I think I need to find a hill to explore? Meanwhile, here’s the little cottage I am staying in. It’s so pretty. I love nests. I just want to potter and bake, but that’s being lazy. I have to try harder today. TBH©

      1. I am dyslexic and I also have A.D.D. which some people call disabled but I am very creative. I think it is all linked. When I left school (which I did not go to very often) I could barely write but I kept going and I got there. I don’t read much either which does not help. I have two close friends helping me with grammar in my book. It’s not easy. It is a personal conquest. I like to learn. I like to hear from you. 🙂

      2. I think it’s because I feel like part of a community here and writing can be lonely otherwise. I love talking to people from all around the world. Each day I learn so much. 🙂

      3. It’s a great hobby. Keeps me sane. Really it does. I used to go on Twitter and it had the opposite effect. I love to write, bake, find nature and I listen to music. I am a complete bore but so very happy 🙂

  1. Good luck and stay healthy! I want to bake too, but I am being lazy about that! I am looking up recipes but it’s so cold here that I just don’t want to. I know that I will feel good about eating a chocolate cookie with a warm glass of milk. I can see the end result but the warmth under the blanket doesn’t let me get out of bed to the kitchen. I’ll try to maybe during the weekend! Let’s see how this goes!

      1. awesome!
Yes I am still in China! Will be here for at least 6 months.
let me know if you come over here! Thanks for the wish 😉

      2. You are on your journey. These moments you can treasure in time. I love that you are moving around our planet. I wish I had travelled more when I was younger. But it is never too late. One thing that scares me about China (and this will sound ignorant ) is if I saw dogs being sold for food it would affect my emotional stability. Do you see this happening there? I am quite a wimp when it comes to culture if it involves anything cruel. Same in the UK. Cannot bear to see anything suffering. I know I need to toughen up.

      3. Thank you 🙂 ❤ I have been only to Shanghai and Nanjing, and I currently live in Suzhou and I haven't seen dogs being eaten, yet. I guess this happens mostly in villages. I know though that there are stray animals but there are far less shelters that can take them in. It's quite costly to keep them if they don't get "adopted". I know of an association who does that but they need a lot of help, specially financial help.
Also, these places are cities and thus are less traditional I would say. People here care a lot about their pets. They dress up their pets and carry them in their arms sometimes duirng the cold winter. The younger ones are all or most animal lovers.
The thing that makes me uncomfortable is the spitting. The old people specially, be it males or females, spit everywhere, not only on roads, but also in the metro or sometimes even inside a building.
It takes a while to get used to it, but it's easier to adapt to the environment if you are here just to visit or travel. If you want to stay here for a longer period, I think you will need a bit of mental reinforcement and you need to make a lot of adjustments. But then it depends on you as a person too!
Also you need to be careful if you are riding a bike, driving or even walking. You have to exercise a lot of precaution.

      4. A lot of information there. Thank you. I feel more informed. Spitting is regarded as cleansing in so many cultures. I have heard something similar about Egypt? The cycling … I nearly died several times in Amsterdam. I thought they were ringing their bells as a happy community integration type thing – but it was at me. I actually joined in laughing and ringing my bell too, until my son saw me and pulled me over to have a word. I endorse holistic medicine so this would be a big reason to visit China. 🙂

      5. Oh I didn’t know about the cleansing thing. They honk a lot here too all the time! I still find that annoying and haven’t got used to it. And yes, I like the home remedies. I got the opportunity to learn about it this winter, unfortunately I had something else scheduled during the same time 😦

  2. Aww poor Tiff’.Bugs are mean. Don’t push the writing too much until you feel it’s overwhelming to put pen to paper!

  3. ” I bake, therefore I am.” Half-baked, half way there. As for the cottage and structures and furniture of a while ago, they show dedication to the design and construction of everything. A sign of pride in work to be seen and used by others after the death of the creator. Later, that was replaced by pride in wealth and status from profits through sales of the low manufacturing cost- high sales price made in who cares land.
